The Art of the Brick (16.10.2014)

Having more than 80 pieces of art on display, The Art of the Brick featured Nathan Sawaya’s work which he creates using LEGO bricks. The venue displays more than 80 pieces, some of which are mere replicas of famous artwork done by previous artists and some new conceptual pieces. Some of the replicas include the statue of Augustus of Prima Porta, The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer and The Scream by Edvard Munch which can be seen below.

His original pieces included a variety of things but one of the recurring themes was that of emotion and human expression.

The first image is that of a parent holding his dead son in his hands which represents death.

The second one is based on the artist himself. He explains that this statue is his worst nightmare – that of losing his hands.
